On today, my 36th birthday, I’d like to share a tiny bit of my memoir in progress, What Took You So Long. This “essay” (I use the quotes because it’s more of a section than an essay) is titled, “We Have Something To Tell You.”
[UPDATE: Thank you for all of your comments! As I said in my original post, this excerpt has been removed due to privacy issues. I am still at work (however slowly) on this memoir.]
Oh you made me cry. Beautifully told, dear Amanda.
beautiful!
oh. This made me cry. I’m forwarding this to my mom, who’s a CASA in Texas for foster kids.
Thank you for all of the wonderful responses & I’m so glad it touched you! 🙂
So glad my daughter sent this to me. (We CASAs advocate for children in foster care. Several of my foster parents adopted the children in their care.) You are proof that children are resilient. You write so vividly. What a moving story.
